The Rivers State Government under the watch of Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, PhD, has exhibited a belief in the Creative Economy as having the capacity to empower the youthful demography with relevant skills and gainfully engage and employ them. This can be justified from the various collaborations/partnership in the tourism, vocational and creative sector lately.
The Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA) is excited at the latest partnership between the Rivers State Government and Del-York Group to create the Rivers State Del-York Vocational & Creative Institute with the support of Hon. Dr. Ovy Chinedum Chukwuma the Rivers State Commissioner for Education; the initiative will benefit 8,500 people over the next five years by providing vocational training, internships, and job placements.
The Institute will be located at the Port Harcourt Technical Vocational Center, it will offer certification programs lasting 6 weeks to 9 months in fields like metalwork, electrical/electronics, cinematography, plumbing, digital literacy, and acting.
The project will among others: create job opportunities, support small businesses in Rivers State, empower women with valuable skills and establish Rivers State as a hub for creative industries.
RSTDA encourages the youthful population to make the most of this opportunity!
